About Wall's of Old Swinford
I started this Genealogy hobby in January of 2006, as a result of two coincidences: Firstly, my attendance to a family funeral in December 2005 in County Durham, England, whereupon the family discussed the fact that nobody seems to have put together a family tree, and secondly the showing on BBC television a new series of the increasingly popular "Who do you think you are?"

This is a TV programme which traces the roots of several TV "celebrities", but as a side issue showed a parallel programme to give tips on how to start tracing your family tree, which gave me the impetus to start the searches.

In researching the Wall tree, I didn't realise that the family originally hailed from the Old Swinford, Lye and Stourbridge areas of Worcestershire, England. Currently I can trace a Wall back to 1680 in Old Swinford. One of my ancestors,Eli (b1853) left Old Swinford via Glamorgan, South Wales very briefly before fetching up in the fleshpots of Newcastle upon Tyne, sometime prior to 1871, according to the census records. He met and married my Great Grandmother, Sarah Jane Connor and the generations that followed were born in either Newcastle upon Tyne or areas of County Durham.

I am very interested in finding current Wall descendants, in order to establish the migration of the family, to see how diverse the family spread during the 1900's. At present, I haven't found any evidence of a member of this Wall family emigrating to places such as Australia, Canada, USA or New Zealand.

Whilst this family tree is still in build (as of Aug '09), I welcome any contact from anyone who can offer additions and/or alterations, photographs and family stories and BMD certificates.
